Just weeks after the insanely beautiful track “Benji the Dog” made its way onto the internet, yet another previously unreleased Mac Miller song, “Real”, has found its way onto the web.

Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, tragically passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, due to a fatal drug overdose. However, known as a prolific music maker, the ever-talented Pittsburgh rapper presumably passed away with hundreds — if not thousands — of unreleased tracks to his name.

As for how these tracks are making their way online, no one really knows. Maybe the producers and musicians he collaborated with want Mac Miller’s unreleased work to be posthumously appreciated. Maybe his friends just miss him and want to hear him rap again. Who knows, maybe it’s just the work hackers.
But what we do know is that every time one of these previously unreleased songs have made their way onto the internet, they’ve been bangers, and “Real” is no exception.
Produced by Metro Boomin, “Real” — similar to many other Mac Miller tracks — contains numerous references to the rapper’s own drug use and mortality.
“The tracklist filled up with so many mistakes, can’t believe I’m alive. Will you be a saint or a sinner? Whatever you want, you decide,” Miller raps.
“All day I been faded, all day I been faded, but fuck it, I drive
Now I’m in a Mercedes, a pill made me crazy, today I could die,” he continues.
While the embeddable version of “Real” has been swiftly removed off of SoundCloud, you can still stream and download the song by following this link.
Given the supposedly massive catalog of music that Miller was sitting on at the time of his tragic passing, “Benji the Dog” and “Real” are likely to be the first of many leaks that we see in the coming years.
And for fans of Mac Miller, that’s music to our ears.
